Microtiter Plate Inspection

Raise efficiency of your production

Microtiter plates are essential today for investigating biochemical or cellular biology topics in scientific and industrial laboratories. Because of their use as storage plates for active substances, patient samples, or biomolecules, great demands are made on the manufacturing quality. The main focus here is on the quality of the bottoms of the wells, which must allow automatic evaluation of the contents during the screening of pharmaceutically active substances.

As a result, manufacturing defects must be reliably identified and consistently separated out. Continuously occuring errors should be revealed quickly in order to keep rejection rates low.

Performance data

The inspection system checks the microtiter plates for injection molding and assembly defects in the mounting frame or for incorrect component positioning.

The system is part of the manufacturing chain and is automatically loaded with parts to be inspected. The automated inspection is performed in synchronization with the assembly process, taking typically 10 to 20 seconds, and is itself linked to the injection molding machine.

Based on the test signal, the faulty parts are immediately sorted out and the good parts are sent to the processing cycle. Measuring is conducted as a 100 % final inspection. Various statistical evaluations are possible, such as those regarding types of errors. The test results can be exported to the customer’s data collection system.

Key facts

The following types of errors that occur during the manufacturing process can be reliably recognized by the inspection system:

  • Defetcs in the well bottoms
  • Contour and position errors
  • Incorrect logo
  • Bubbles and contaminations
  • Scratches and marks

In case of continuous errors, an operator call can be made. In addition, mould cavity dependent statistical error recording provides information for optimization possibilities within the manufacturing process.

Further options

The inspection system is suitable for highly automated manufacturing lines in the application area of medical production – even in clean rooms. Intego also provides automation components for handling parts for inspection, assembly or sorting.

If you require an individual solution, Intego offers free-of-charge feasibility studies based on sample parts. The prepared study will include a system design with draft specifications and a price estimate. Do not hesitate to contact us directly.
