Vision Systems Metal

In the manufacturing of steel pipes an early detection and prevention of faults is extremely important. Our inspection systems are designed for a fully automated 100% control in rough industrial environments.

  • During the inner pipe inspection the ends of the pipes move along the protected sensor head and are stopped there shortly for inspection. The inspection unit contains an optical measurement device with six camera and illumination units. As a typical defect, inner rills starting from a width of 0.1 mm will be reliably recognised.
  • During the outer pipe inspection the complete outer surface of the pipes is inspected with a throughput speed of up to 2m/s. In this process both the topography, i.e. the height information, as well as the colour information by flat defects is evaluated. The resolution perpendicular to the transportation direction is 0.08 mm and along the transportation direction 0.7 mm.
